FAQ

1.Will your emergency clean up services be covered by my insurance?
In most cases, home, business or auto insurance will pay for trauma, crime scene and bio-hazardous material clean up services. We are more than happy to assist you with the claims process so that your insurance company has all required information. Our services are recognized by the insurance industry, and our staff can work closely with your insurance company to assure prompt processing of your claim.

2. Can I use my own regular cleaning or janitorial service to clean up blood or pathological waste?
Proper training and equipment is required to handle bio-hazardous waste such as blood or bodily fluids, and these materials must be disposed of using a legally accepted process. 360 RESTORATION has a team of trained emergency services professionals and certified hazardous material technicians who have extensive experience in the trauma and crime scene clean up industry, so you can rest assured you won’t be putting anyone at risk.

3.Are all bodily fluids considered hazardous?
Yes. According to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) Classification D, Division 3 "Biohazardous Infectious Materials " - viruses live in bodily fluids (blood, urine, vomit, feces) and they are therefore considered to be toxic.

4.Are bodily fluids that are exposed to the air still infectious?
Yes. The Hepatitis B virus for example is active and infectious in dried blood for at least 30 days at 25 degrees Celsius. Hand contact with blood-contaminated surfaces can transfer the virus through skin or mucous membranes.

5. What do you charge for your services?
Unfortunately, until we know the specifics of your situation, it is difficult to provide an accurate quote. The biggest factor in determining the costs involved with a particular job is the size and scope of the project. Our prices are reasonable and competitive and we can usually provide on-site estimates and begin work immediately.

6. What federal or provincial standards or guidelines do you follow?
At 360 RESTORATION, we comply with all standards as mandated by the Ministry of Labour - (Ontario Health & Safety), the Ministry of The Environment - (The Management of Biomedical Waste), as well as the Public Health Agency of Canada - (Disinfection/The Inactivation of the Hepatitis B & C Viruses).

7. How do you recognize a competent emergency clean up company?
As with any profession, quality can vary from company to company. Look for employees that are professional in attitude and appearance. They should be sensitive to the nature of each scene and the people around them. They will work closely with the property owner to reduce the emotional stress related to the scene, discourage publicity and be helpful in assuming as much of the role of dealing with the insurance company as possible. A competent company will be highly knowledgeable in the areas of disease, pathogens, sanitizers, disinfectants, sterilization, deodorants and health and safety regulations to help them to successfully deal with each unique situation. Utilizing highly specialized equipment, chemicals, and protective equipment, these specialists isolate, clean, disinfect each surface, and decontaminate properly. Upon job completion, the collected waste should be transported for appropriate disposal at a licensed facility.

8. How quickly are you able to respond to a trauma scene?
We can appreciate that situations like this require immediate and discreet attention. We offer 24 Hour Emergency Service and can generally be on site the same day we are contacted. Prior to commencing a cleanup process, we do have to evaluate the site. This is a vital part of the process to ensure an accurate quote and a complete understanding of the work required. Once a crime scene has been released by the authorities and depending on the location, the cleanup process can typically commence within 24 hours.

9. Are you able to completely remove odours?
Yes. For most situations, we are able to remove 100% of any odour. In some extreme situations, slight odour may linger - but will dissipate over a short period of time.

10.How long do your clean ups typically take?
Since every situation is unique, there is really no pre-defined amount of time for each specific scene. Typically, a crime or suicide can take us six to ten hours for the cleanup process. A homicide or decomposition may take fifteen to twenty hours. And a severe gross filth property may take ten to twenty-four hours of work. Without first viewing the actual scene, there are just too many variables to give an exact estimate.
